Clay Mote, a sixth generation Texan, grew up watching his own family in the world of commercial real estate. After graduating from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate, Clay began his career with The Weitzman Group in 1995 where he was named “Rookie of the Year”. In 2000, Clay and his partners formed Venture Commercial, a Dallas-based retail real estate brokerage firm specializing in landlord and tenant representation, retail pad sales and big box disposition. Today Venture leases over six million square feet of retail space, represents 110 tenants and has 30 brokers in its Dallas office.
Clay is known for his strong work ethic, vast knowledge and creative solutions for problem solving. His clients regard him as a strategic thinker with initiative that enables them to achieve their individual needs.
In 2009, D CEO Magazine named Clay one of Dallas’ top commercial brokers. He is consistently named by the Dallas Business Journal on the Heavy Hitter list and topped the Largest Retail deal list with his 184,000-square-foot retail lease for The Dump Furniture Store. Clay is also on the Board of Directors for X Team and North Texas Land Council, as well as a member of ICSC.
Outside of real estate Clay is an accomplished cook, an avid wing shooter, and a devoted father and husband. The Mote family enjoys traveling together and spending quality outdoor time at their family’s ranch in Eastland County. Clay and his girls (wife, daughter, and yellow Labrador) live in the Greenway Parks neighborhood of Dallas and are members of Highland Park United Methodist Church.
